Required Reading and Summer Assignments due September 2020

You will be required to read two books over the summer, one will be fiction and one will be informational. You may choose books that interest you, as long as you meet the requirement (specific topics, specific genres within the two mandated types of books.) For example, perhaps you want to read a biography about a famous baseball player, that would meet the requirements for an informational text. Also, you like to read mysteries that would meet the requirements of fiction. Click the link below for some suggestions and more details.

The Importance of Summer Reading

Summer reading is so important to keep learning going and to let imaginations run free! We are
thrilled to make more e-books and audiobooks for all ages available for free this summer to all
DOE families, and it’s easier than ever to access them. Please read on for more information, and
visit schools.nyc.gov/summerreading for additional details to be posted on Monday, June 29.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is this week! Thursday, March 12th 8:00am-2:00pm and again during the Parent/Teacher Conference from 4:30-7:30. Also on Friday, March 13th 8:00am - 11:00am and again during the Parent/Teacher Conference from 12:00 - 2:00. Please send your student to school with money if they'd like to purchase something. there are many great things to choose from. Also, Friday, March 13th is a half-day of school...students will be dismissed at 10:54am.

Family Math Night Tuesday March 10th

Please join us for Family Math Night. This event will take place on Tuesday March 10th from 5:30 - 7:00 followed by the March PTA meeting. There will be games, activities, snacks, prizes and a Pi reciting competition. Students who attend will receive merits for school spirit and a homework pass. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

After-School Test Prep Coming Soon

Please take advantage of this opportunity to get some extra help...The program will offer instruction and preparation for the state standardized tests. Students MUST be present for BOTH sessions. Absent notes are required for all missed sessions. If absences become excessive, the student will be discharged from the program.
The Afterschool Math/Literacy Program will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 2:05 PM until 4:05 PM, beginning February 5, 2020. Here are the dates: 2/5, 2/6, 2/12, 2/26, 2/27, 3/4, 3/5, 3/11, 3/12, 3/18, 3/19, 4/1, 4/2, 4/8. Transportation is NOT provided

PS I Love You Day

This special day is designed to bring awareness to ending depression and preventing suicide. It is a very serious subject these days. We are encouraging everyone to wear purple on Friday February 14th and to spread the word of POSITIVITY! Click here to read the story. I will also be sharing a special t-shirt to buy and wear that day...money is due Monday, February 3rd.
